I had practiced martial arts a number of years before and had been searching for a class so I could get back into training as this was something I enjoyed and gave me good health.

I first came across the Tse Qigong Centre in 2003, when I was walking by the Friends Institute in Moseley just outside Birmingham city centre. I was going to walk past, but changed my mind and decided to have a look inside just in case there were any martial art classes advertised.  As I walked in I saw a poster of Grandmaster Michael Tse in Chen Taiji quan (tai ji/tai chi) and Qigong (chi gong/chee gong) postures. I decided then that I would come back the following week.

When I returned the following week I met Sifu Mike Baker who was to teach me Qigong, Chun Yuen (Northern Shaolin), Wing Chun and Sifu Kate Britton who was then my Sifu for Chen Taijiquan. For many years I had wanted to study Chen Taijiquan, so I began my studies with this. Whilst I found this immensely enjoyable and practiced as much as I could, I suffered with knee problems that I had experienced from birth. This prompted me to begin learning Qigong. I found the Qigong not only helped my knees but also helped my Taiji practice.

After studying Qigong for a while, I found that after I had learnt the Wild Goose 2nd 64, my knees no longer hurt.  I had walked up the stairs to class and suddenly realised that I felt no discomfort in my knees.  Just to be sure this was not a one off, I ran back down and walked up them again. To my joy the pain that had accompanied me for my whole life, not only was easier but had gone.

Practice has become a way of life for me and I now also study Chun Yuen Quan (Northern Shaolin Kung Fu) and Wing Chun.

As part of the Tse Qigong Centre I have met many people from all over the world and we all seem to have one thing in common and that is we enjoy what we are doing. I hope that I can pass on these Traditional Chinese skills and help people to enjoy their life, develop good skill but most importantly be healthy.
